Partnering with schools and community groups

We work with individual schools and community groups to make uniform and other essentials available to families in a local, accessible and dignified way. Each community is different, and we work collaboratively to support whatever type of provision is most helpful within our limited resources.

Pre-loved uniform

Instead of collecting and distributing preloved items ourselves, we support school communities to run their own preloved initiatives so that uniform is re-worn locally. This could be a swap shop, a sharing rail, a thrift store or another way of extending the life of clothing while making items available locally in a non-stigmatising way. We are developing guidance on best practice, and schools/PTAs are welcome to contact us to discuss how we can help.

New uniform

We partner with selected schools to run on-site mini uniform banks known as WeeSUBs. We supply new clothing and accessories, while the school staff manage the WeeSUBs on a day-to-day basis, for example giving a new jumper to a child or facilitating young people to choose what they need.

New uniform is currently available on-site to pupils attending the following schools:

  • Broomhouse Primary School
  • Canal View Primary School
  • Castlebrae High School
  • Craigour Park Primary School
  • Craigroyston High School
  • Drummond High School
  • Ferryhill Primary School
  • Forthview Primary School

If you wish to access this service, please speak to the relevant staff member at school, usually a Pupil Support Officer or similar.

Activewear and Camp

We are currently running small pilot projects with carefully selected partners to boost attendance and participation in sports and other active pursuits, including P7 Camp. These activities are an integral part of children and young people’s wider education and give them opportunities for personal development far beyond the classroom. We hope to expand these partnerships in due course, subject to funding being available.
