Edinburgh School Uniform Bank won a UK-wide Charity Governance Award in June 2023. ESUB impressed the judges with our strategic pivot that was prompted by some tough challenges and resulted in even better support for children and their families. Margaret, Penny and Maya travelled to London to receive the award. Margaret’s acceptance speech was described as “hands down the best winner’s acceptance speech I have ever seen (including the Oscars!)”. Find out more here.
Our volunteer team were also recognized this summer when they received an Inspiring Volunteer Award from the Lord Provost. Karen accepted the award on behalf of the whole team at a ceremony at City Chambers.

Our trustee Julia Grindley was named as the Lord Provost’s Inspiring Volunteer of the Year 2021. More information can be found at Volunteer Edinburgh.
Julia was also given a Special Commendation in the “Trustee of the Year” category in the Scottish Charity Awards 2021.
On 15th December 2021, Julia was named as a Point of Light by the Prime Minister, an award that recognises outstanding individual volunteers – people who are making a change in their community.
Julia said: “We are honoured to receive this recognition of the work of Edinburgh School Uniform Bank. Our team works so hard to give children the best chances in life and to make sure that everyone can go to school feeling comfortable, confident, and fitting in with their peers. We bring together the whole community to support families who are facing tough challenges, and our thanks go to everyone who contributes to this effort.”
